About Me

Hi, I’m Bhawani Singh. I’m a platform engineer, and most of what I know came from working problems rather than from a formal path through them.

I currently own the CI/CD platform at Upwork: a Tekton engine on AWS EKS that engineering teams across the company ship through, plus the older Jenkins platform it’s slowly replacing. I designed the DSL teams write their pipelines in, built the infrastructure underneath. Before that I spent years at a consultancy building monitoring platforms and CI/CD for client organizations, and before that, I was writing Spring applications.

What I actually enjoy is the messy middle between infrastructure and the people using it. Making a slow build fast again. Figuring out why a cluster keeps choking when everyone swears it’s a compute problem, and it usually isn’t. Building tools that still work when everything else is on fire, because the whole point of monitoring something is that it can’t go down with it.

Outside work I write Rust for fun. dockstat came out of a few too many years squinting at Docker build logs trying to figure out where the time went. I’m currently poking at an agent harness that runs local models inside Firecracker microVMs. I also keep telling myself I’ll finally get around to ESP32 and Arduino one of these days. Still hasn’t happened.

This is where I write about what I’m building, breaking, and reading.
